Upstairs, I was intrigued by the lone chair with its back to the lower level…why was this left behind and who was the last person to sit in it? As I pondered these questions and set up the shot, the sounds of the building crept into my ears…the repetitive clanking of metal vents in the breeze along with the groaning of the steel skeleton as the building expanded in the afternoon sun.

  1. That image screams emptiness… And I have been in an old slate dressing mill with similar metallic noises – very eerie when you are the only person there!
