Bristol Manufacturing — Waterbury, Connecticut
The entire floor was one large indoor skating rink; adding yet another challenge to this exploration.

You can find some of my earlier visits to Bristol Manufacturing in my book: In a Different Light
This is awesome! Did you skate across this to get to the other side or take a safer route?
I shuffled slowly across, using my tripod as a way to steady myself and my backpack off to give me a lower center of gravity…
At least this way folks can see the Graffiti without venturing in there.
I’m happy to do the heavy lifting 🙂
Love this. I’m constantly amazed at how much graffiti there is everywhere in these abandoned buildings. The ice rink even has a sheen to it. Very nice.
Thank you – the “wall” to the left was non-existent allowing for a nice bit of side lighting to illuminate the scene.
You’re welcome. I take it you didn’t skate lol
Weak ankles…I made my way very carefully across the space to get the shot…anything for the shot.
Even a triple toe loop!
An intense cacophony of icy blue. Tremendous shot. You adventuring is remarkable. I have trouble getting out of the house. 😀
Too kind…but thank you. Often getting in to these places is easier than finding your way back out. Thanks for sharing in my adventures 🙂
I like blue, and I like ice! 🙂 I even used to figure skate. 😉 Interesting image, Robert. You always find the coolest (sorry about that unintended pun) things to shoot.
Thanks Jo – have a fun weekend – you will have to email me places to look for in Taos when you get back.
Fabulous shot!
Thanks Jenn!
This is beautiful – the ice adds a lot to the image. Glad you were adventuresome!
Thanks Melinda – it was touch and go for a bit, but the image makes it all worth while. Glad you like this one.
Now that is a great example of beauty in decay!!! 😀 Finally a colorful graffiti and the ice with the blue reflection is just perfect!!!
Thanks Alex…sometimes there are some true artists who come here – although too much is just tagging nonsense.
Stunning! Looks like a building with quite a bit to offer! Great job as usual 🙂
Thank you – yes, it does – I have been visiting it since the mid-90s and it is very close to collapse – one more heavy winter and it will be all over for this place.
Wow, thats fantastic! It really looks like water, but it was obviously verrry cold that day 😃 I like this shot Robert. Much to see!
Thank you Robyn, yes we have had a lot of snow and very cold days here this winter, so any standing water froze and has stayed frozen.
That is cold!
