General Electric – U25B Locomotive — New York

The U25B (nicknamed U-Boat) was the first commercially successful domestic diesel electric locomotive designed, built, and sold by General Electric. Its Diesel engine was the 16 cylinder model FLD that powered the electric traction motors to 2,500 hp. Built between 1959 and 1966, this locomotive – Conrail number 2510 – was manufactured in May of 1964.
