Goodbye St. Nick (2015)

St. Nicholas Coal Breaker — Mahanoy, Pennsylvania

Early morning progressed to mid-day and it was time to leave this industrial monster; tired and exhausted, yet still hours short of a typical work day in the breaker. About fifteen years ago there was an investigation launched with the thought of preserving the breaker – grant money was awarded for a study, but it would have taken tens of millions of dollars to turn this massive, out-of-the-way ruins into a historical attraction, the idea was shelved and in the early part of 2015, demolition began to remove the St, Nicholas Breaker from the land it had lorded over for so many years.
