J. W. Cooper School — Shenandoah, Pennsylvania
Constructed in 1917, the school was set to open for the 1918 school year until the outbreak of the Spanish Flu epidemic caused the school to be appropriated by the State as a temporary hospital and morgue. In May 1919 the building was finally dedicated as the “new Shenandoah High School”; later renamed as the J.W. Cooper High School in memory of the school’s first principal.
