Untouched (2016)

Klots Throwing Company — Lonaconing, Maryland

The Klots Throwing Company was incorporated in Pennsylvania in 1894. The business had been founded by Henry Durell Klots and George Klots, silk throwsters, in New York City in the 1880s. The Lonaconing mill opened in 1905 as a sister mill to one in Cumberland, Maryland, and was at the time only the third such plant in the state. In the 1930s Klots was reorganized into General Textile Mills, and operated under that name until it closed in 1957. Aside from a small amount of upkeep, the location has remained just as it was when the mill was shuttered due to a labor dispute.
