Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum — Weston, West Virginia

As with most abandoned spaces, there is a dampness that permeates everything…

  1. Wow, what a great image in itself and in the grave-like shapes on the ceiling and the ghostly shaped puddle on the floor. This place is a gold mine of images. I love all of yours. Especially poignant to me since I once was threatened with hospitalization, well, twice, as I am Bipolar 1!! Thank you for showing people the conditions…

    • Thank you for your kind words about my images…yes, you could be placed into an asylum for a multitude of non-mental issues back when this place opened…each asylum was begun with the best of intentions, but devolved into a place of horror due to overcrowding and lack of funding.
