Once a fully functioning dairy farm that supplied the residents with fresh milk, the last 101 cows of the herd were sold in 2003 to local farmer Edward Platt for $97,000 at auction.

Thompson Hall at Southbury Training School — Southbury, Connecticut

Patrick O’Brien, the assistant director of the Connecticut Bureau of Assets Management, wrote that the school “is typically in a state of disrepair to the point where a certificate of occupancy would be difficult to obtain. Indeed, many existing structures are beyond salvage and require environmental remediation and demolition.”

Thompson Hall at Southbury Training School — Southbury, Connecticut

Southbury Training School is a large residential facility in the towns of Southbury and Roxbury, Connecticut; built in the 1930s as a large state-funded and operated center for adults with learning disabilities. Consisting of 150 buildings and structures situated on a campus of 1,600 acres. At its peak it was home to a population of 3000 residents and employed a staff of nearly 400.
